East Orange Fire Chief Andre Williams has been placed on paid leave amid accusations of harassment, a report says.

EAST ORANGE, NJ — East Orange Fire Chief Andre Williams has been placed on paid leave amid accusations of harassment, a report says.

A city spokesperson confirmed that Deputy Chief Bruce Davis Jr. was elevated to acting chief on Monday, taking over Williams’ post amid a pair of separate investigations by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and outside counsel hired by the city, NJ.com reported.

A group of firefighters are alleging that Williams unfairly denied them promotions and intimidated them under fear of retaliation, localtalkweekly.com previously reported, citing a letter from the East Orange Fire Officer's Association/FBMA Locals 23 and 223.
