East Orange Renames Street For Beloved Community Activist
Time hasn't slowed one of East Orange's most valuable community resources, Alberta Daniels.

EAST ORANGE, NJ — Time hasn’t slowed one of East Orange’s most valuable community resources, Alberta Daniels.
Daniels, a founding member of the East Orange Women's Alliance and one of the first women appointed to the East Orange Board of Fire Commissioners, continues to serve her community at the age of 89.
Earlier this week – braving a forecast of heavy rain – the East Orange High School graduate proudly resided over a street dedication in her honor, watching as the corner of North Maple and Lafayette Avenues was dubbed “Alberta Evelyn Daniels Court.”

Local officials planned a surprise unveiling ceremony on Monday for the dedicated community activist, who is also one of the longest serving members of the East Orange Democratic County Committee (see below).
