East Orange Teen Fatally Shot; Cops Offer $5K Reward To Catch Shooter

An Essex County teen was fatally shot in East Orange, authorities said.

EAST ORANGE, NJ — An Essex County teen was fatally shot on Monday in East Orange, authorities said.

East Orange police were notified that a person with a gunshot wound was transported to CareWell Health Medical Center at 6:55 p.m. The victim – later identified as Nicholas Edwards, 18, of East Orange – was pronounced dead at 8:05 p.m.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force is investigating the fatal shooting. No arrests had been made as of Tuesday, prosecutors said.

REWARD OFFERED

Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura announced Wednesday that the Essex County Sheriff’s Crime Stoppers Program is offering up to a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for the fatal shooting of Edwards.
