Police in West Orange asked for help locating a missing senior citizen diagnosed with dementia, authorities said.

Police in West Orange are asking for the public’s help locating a missing senior citizen who has been diagnosed with dementia, authorities said.

According to a West Orange township alert issued on Monday, police are conducting an investigation into a “walk-away elderly male who is suffering from dementia.”

Police said Ramon Marte, who is in his 80’s, walked away from 187 High Street in West Orange. He was last seen wearing a New York Yankees baseball cap, a light-colored plaid shirt and brown pants, and was carrying an umbrella. He was described as having a dark skin complexion and is between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 7 inches.
