Environmental Justice Case Settled In The Oranges, NJ Officials Say
The case involved "longstanding gasoline and waste oil contamination" at the site of a former gas station and a garage, authorities said.
ORANGES, NJ — State officials have reached a settlement involving an environmental justice case in Orange, authorities announced this week.
According to the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), an administrative consent order (ACO) will resolve a 2020 lawsuit involving “longstanding gasoline and waste oil contamination” at 43-45 South Center Street in Orange – the site of a former gas station and a garage.
In 2020, the DEP sued because the then-owner allegedly failed to comply with a 2019 order to remediate contamination caused by discharges from multiple underground storage tanks, authorities said.
