Essex County Moves COVID Vaccine, Test Site: See Updated Locations
Essex County is closing its coronavirus vaccination and testing center in West Orange and moving it to Livingston.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Essex County is closing its coronavirus vaccination and testing center in West Orange and moving it to Livingston, County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo Jr. announced Sunday.
At the peak of the pandemic, the county ran five vaccine centers in Livingston (at the former Sears building in the Livingston Mall), Newark (at Essex County College and the Donald M. Payne Sr. School of Technology), West Caldwell (at Essex County West Caldwell School of Technology) and West Orange (at the former Kmart building on Prospect Avenue).
As more Essex County residents got vaccinated, reducing demand, the county has closed some of these centers. Currently, the only one open is the site at the Sears building at the Livingston Mall, 112 Eisenhower Parkway. It will be providing COVID-19 vaccines and tests at no cost from 2 to 7 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

Moderna, Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are available for people ages 5 and up. Appointments aren’t needed, but can be made by visiting www.EssexCOVID.org or calling 973-877-8456.
There are no out-of-pocket costs to receive vaccines. Residents will be asked to provide their medical insurance information so Essex County can bill the insurance company $40 for each dose of the vaccine. For those without insurance, the cost of the vaccine will be covered by the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Provider Relief Funds.
