ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — East Orange resident Sallie Kindred joined an exclusive club of centenarians when she commemorated her 100th birthday at Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville on April 18. And good news for those seeking similar longevity… the secret is easier than you’d think, she says.
Staff members at the medical center held a celebration for Kindred on her birthday, which included Tania Manago, assistant director of patient experience and volunteer services and Maria Paradiso, nurse manager of the ICU.
Now back at home, Kindred plans on continuing the celebration with her granddaughter and great-granddaughter, hospital administrators told Patch.

“The way I was brought up guided me in the right path,” Kindred said. “Also, I pray to God every day.”
