Herb Brown, veteran NBA coach and the director of the Summer Basketball Academy at the NJ Y Camps, will conduct two free youth basketball clinics at Golda Och Academy (1418 Pleasant Valley Way in West Orange, NJ) on Sun, November 13, 2011.
The clinic for students in grades 4 through 6 will take place from 1:00 -- 2:00 PM, while the clinic for grades 7 through 9 will occur from 2:30 -- 3:30 PM. This event is free and open to the public. Advance registration is required via email: Afinkel@goldaochacademy.org
Born in Brooklyn, Herb Brown is a former head coach of the Detroit Pistons and an assistant coach for several teams, including the Portland Trail Blazers, Houston Rockets, Indiana Pacers, Phoenix Suns, and Atlanta Hawks. As an assistant to his brother Larry, he helped coach the Pistons to the NBA championship in 2004. At the college level, Brown was head coach at SUNY Stony Brook from 1964-69, earning Coach of the Year honors after the 1969 season. He also served as head coach at C.W. Post from 1972-74,

Coach Herb Brown is the author of three books about basketball and runs the Basketball Academy in the summer at the New Jersey Y Camps. He is an inductee into the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame and Museum.
The NJ Y Camps have provided children with quality summer programs since 1920. All programs take place on a beautiful 1,250 acre location in Milford, PA. The facility includes two lakes, two swimming pools, extensive rope challenge courses plus numerous updated sports and arts facilities. The NJ Y Camps offer a number of sports specialty camps include swimming (taught by Olympic gold medalist Lenny Krazelburg); basketball (Herb Brown); soccer (Julio Sosa); baseball (Ron Blomberg); lacrosse (Max Seibald); and tennis (Shlomo Glickstein).
