Fatal Shooting In East Orange Claims Newark Resident’s Life
A 39-year-old man from Newark died after a shooting in East Orange, authorities said.
ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A fatal shooting in East Orange claimed the life of a 39-year-old man from Newark on Thursday, authorities said.
Police responded to the 100-block of Steuben Street in East Orange at 2:44 p.m. after getting a report about a shooting. Officers found Omar Johnson-Pilgrim, 39, of Newark, suffering from gunshot wounds.
Johnson-Pilgrim was transported to University Hospital in Newark, where he was pronounced dead at 3:52 p.m., according to a statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the East Orange Police Department.

A police investigation continues. No arrests have been made as of Friday, prosecutors said.
