Fatality On I-280 In West Orange, Car Engulfed In Flames: PD
A person died in an early morning car fire after their vehicle became engulfed in flames on I-280 in Essex County, officials said.

WEST ORANGE, NJ -- A person died after their vehicle became engulfed in flames on I-280 early Sunday morning , West Orange town officials said.
West Orange police responded to a vehicle accident on I-280 east in the area of Pleasant Valley Way around 1 a.m to find the vehicle "unrecognizable" and fully engulfed in flames, authorities said Sunday.
After emergency responders extinguished the fire, a person trapped in the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

State police are investigating the incident. No identification of the victim was made prior to West Orange fire officials leaving the scene, authorities said.
