East Orange, NJ – Several East Orange homeless housing providers will benefit from federal grants as part of a $34 million package intended to combat homelessness in New Jersey.
The grants are part of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Continuum of Care Program, which supports hundreds of permanent and transitional housing programs for homeless individuals and families.
According to a news release from U.S. Senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker, President Obama has called for $11 billion in the 2017 budget to be spent over the coming decade on initiatives to prevent family homelessness.
