Fire In East Orange Leaves 18 People Without A Home
Firefighters from Bloomfield, Orange and Irvington helped their East Orange peers to battle the blaze and cover the city.
ESSEX COUNTY, NJ -- Eighteen people lost their home following an early morning fire in East Orange on Saturday, authorities said.
Firefighters responded to a fire at a three-family home at 135 Greenwood Avenue at 5:23 a.m., a city spokesperson said.
Firefighters put the blaze under control at 5:54 a.m. Three families were able to escape the fire with no injuries, authorities said.

The home is currently inhabitable and the American Red Cross is assisting the displaced families with temporary shelter.
Bloomfield firefighters assisted at the scene. Firefighters from Orange and Irvington were dispatched to East Orange as mutual aid.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, authorities said.
