The plan, though, fell through, after the university was unable to commit any money to the project.

"It was a great concept, but in the end, they couldn't put down money and that's just not realistic," Mayor Robert Parisi said.

He said the administration was working with an architect to develop some ideas about what could feasibly be done to the property, "we're going to tie up all the loose ends and we'll let (the residents) decide."

Parisi said he would schedule another meeting with St. Cloud area residents in late April.

Township officials last by locals who were predominantly in favor of preserving the neighborhood's character and staving off extensive commercial and residential development.

Councilman Victor Cirilo, who has been closely monitoring the project, said the administration was seeking a plan that would not place a financial burden on the town.

"We have to come up with an idea that would raise the necessary funds where we are not losing money and we are bringing in some revenue to make the necessary upgrades," he said.

Two stucco buildings currently exist on the property located on 55-57 Ridgeway Avenue. The area is owned by the township, but is not currently in use and once belonged to The Life Christian Church. In 2004, the church swapped lands with the township and relocated to Northfield Avenue.
