Gun Possibly Stolen From Car In West Orange: Police
The gun's owner said he parked his car in West Orange. He was moving from Orange to Newark at the time, police said.
WEST ORANGE, NJ — A gun may have been stolen from a car in West Orange last week, police say.
According to the West Orange Police Department, the owner reported the theft on Aug. 6. He said the firearm – a Glock 24 pistol – was stolen between midnight and 4 a.m. from his vehicle, a black 2003 Mercedes Benz with a temporary New Jersey tag.
The gun’s owner said he was moving from his old residence in Orange to his new home in Newark the previous evening. The weapon was inside a grey drawstring bag, and was placed in and out of the car’s trunk throughout the move.

The last time he saw the gun was around midnight when he arrived at his friend’s home on Glen Avenue in West Orange, police said.
The gun’s owner said he noticed the firearm was missing around 4 a.m. when he left the house and traveled back to Orange. He wasn’t sure if the car was locked at the time, police said.

The gun – valued at $500 – was unloaded. The bag didn’t contain any magazines or bullets, police said.
