Here’s Why You Saw Fighter Jets Over North Jersey (VIDEO)

Four F-15E Strike Eagles flew over New Jersey en route to New York. Find out where they were headed.

Several North Jersey residents within eyesight and hearing range of the Hudson River and Newark Airport area caught a glimpse of four fighter jets roaring through the skies on Sunday. The appearance of the military planes prompted an outpouring of inquisition on social media, with one question on local residents’ minds: “What the heck was all that craziness?”

Here was the jets’ destination: a sporting event in Queens, NY.

The U.S. Air Force jets were headed to a flyover at the men's final of the U.S. Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center for a match between Rafael Nadal and Kevin Anderson, and passed over the Hudson River and Liberty Island on their way, the New York Police Department told the Armonk Daily Voice.
