Essex County residents in need of a cool place to chill out this week can find some respite at Codey Arena, officials say.

WEST ORANGE, NJ — Essex County residents in need of a cool place to chill out this week can find some respite at Codey Arena, officials announced Tuesday.

Severe weather, including widespread clusters of thunderstorms, are in the cards into the evening on Tuesday as the Garden State heats up in preparation for triple-digit temperatures later this week, forecasters said. Read More: Severe Thunderstorms, Heat Forecasted For Parts Of NJ

With the thermometer expected to reach 90 degrees, Essex County officials say that Codey Arena will be open to the public as a cooling center on the following days:

  • Tuesday, July 25 to Thursday, July 27 from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Friday, July 28 from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Saturday, July 29 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

County officials said that normal skating activities won’t be interrupted. The arena is located at 560 Northfield Avenue in West Orange.
