The vibrant community of West Orange is excited to announce its Inaugural Juneteenth Film Festival, taking place from June 21 to June 23. This celebration marks a significant moment in history, commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States.
The Juneteenth Film Festival aims to honor the rich cultural heritage and resilience of the Black community while promoting education and understanding through the power of cinema. The festival will feature a diverse selection of films exploring themes of freedom, equality, and social justice, curated to inspire and provoke meaningful conversations.

"We are thrilled to bring the spirit of Juneteenth to West Orange through this exciting Film Festival," said Councilwoman Tammy Williams. "This event is a testament to our commitment to diversity, inclusion, and celebrating the contributions of the Black community to our society." The Juneteenth planning committee is currently accepting short film submissions and sponsorship opportunities through April 15.
Attendees can expect a dynamic program of screenings, panel discussions, and interactive workshops, providing opportunities for engagement and reflection. The festival will also showcase local talent and highlight the importance of storytelling in fostering empathy and understanding.
