Liberty Middle School's Helping Hands Club Shares 'Love of Reading'

Club members recently read to Washington Elementary School students.

On Friday May 23, Liberty Middle School’s Helping Hands Club members visited Washington Elementary School kindergarten classes for their “Share their Love of Reading” program.

7th and 8th grade ‘Club’ members brought their favorite childhood storybooks and read to students in individual classrooms.  After reading and discussing what they all loved about the books, club members helped the children create bookmarks.  Before returning to Liberty Middle School the Helping Hands Club gave a new book to each kindergarten student to take home.

“They had fun coloring and then decorating the bookmarks with stickers” said Liberty Helping Hands student organizers. “It was great fun for all!”

The Liberty Middle School Helping Hands organization’s goal is to provide community or school service opportunities for students.

“High school students all need service hours for graduation and this club provides early experience in helping others,” said Principal Robert Klemt.
