'Massive' Essex County Drug Ring Busted, 48 Arrested

A seven-month investigation by the Essex County Narcotics Task Force has resulted in the arrest of 48 people in connection with a drug trafficking ring, according to a report by NJ.com.
The bust, which officials announced Wednesday, was called Operation TIDE. Those arrested face charges of drug distribution, possession of illegal firearms and homicide, NJ.com reported.
Authorities reportedly said the drug trafficking ring was primarily involved with selling heroin and was operated by the street gang 793 Bloods.

Authorities executed arrest warrants, and seized more than $31,000 in cash and “multiple quantities” of heroin, cocaine and other drugs, NJ.com said.
