Michael Oren, Ex-Israel Ambassador, To Speak In West Orange

Michael Oren, a former West Orange resident, will speak at B'nai Shalom on Sept. 4.

WEST ORANGE, NJ — Michael Oren, a former West Orange resident and Israeli ambassador to the U.S., will speak at B’nai Shalom at 300 Pleasant Valley Way on Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 8 p.m.

Oren, who currently serves as a member of the Knesset for the Kulanu party and deputy Mminister in the Prime Minister’s Office, will hold a public forum titled “Israel and American Jews: Common Destiny or Separate Paths?”

According to B’nai Shalom, Oren has written books, articles and essays on Middle Eastern history, including the New York Times best-selling Power, Faith and Fantasy, Six Days of War: June 1967, The Making of the Modern Middle East and Ally. He has been a visiting professor at Harvard, Yale, and Georgetown universities in the United States, as well as the Hebrew and Tel Aviv universities in Israel.
