Passaic Tech ends West Orange's girls season

The West Orange High School girls basketball team outscored Passaic Tech 26-18 in the first and fourth quarters of a North Jersey, Section 1, Group IV first-round playoff game Monday afternoon in Wayne. 

The problem for the Mountaineers were quarters two and three.

The seventh-seeded Bulldogs ended the Mountaineer's season with a 55-46 victory.

Passaic Tech (10-9) outscored the 10th-seeded Mountaineers 37-20 in the second and third quarters. West Orange finished the season at 12-12.

Junior Sierra McDuffie, sophomore Erika Jarret and senior Jalissa Santiago scored four points apiece to spark a second-quarter run when the Bulldogs pulled away in Wayne.

Senior Nikia Richardson scored eight of her 12 points when the Bulldogs outscored West Orange 21-11 in the third quarter. McDuffie finished with a game-high 18 points and Santiago had 10 for the Bulldogs, who'll play at second-seeded Morris Knolls Wednesday.

Sophomore center Chisom Amaefuna led the Mountaineers with 16 points and junior guard Alyssa Almario had 13, including three 3-pointers. Senior forward Kim Reitmeyer had five.
