Mingle With The Flamingos At NJ Turtle Back Zoo Benefit

Guests at the Turtle Back Zoo's "Tickled Pink" benefit will get a chance to meet flamingos up-close and personal at a new exhibit.

WEST ORANGE, NJ — Essex County residents clamoring for a peek at the Turtle Back Zoo’s highly anticipated, under-construction flamingo exhibit can get a chance to mingle with some of the unique animals during a fundraising event on Friday, Sept. 14.

The Essex County Turtle Back Zoo, located in West Orange, will host “Tickled Pink,” an after-hours fundraising event that will benefit the Zoological Society of New Jersey’s mission to promote the zoo and the conservation of wildlife.

  • A chance to meet flamingos “up-close”
  • Guest interactions with “education animals”
  • Hors d’oeuvres and a selection of beer and wine
  • A silent auction with animal-themed items

The event will take place from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets are available for those 18 and older and cost $65 for members and $75 for nonmembers. (See details and purchase tickets here)

Essex County officials released details about the new, $3.2 million exhibit in March, which will include a flock of Caribbean flamingos and a habitat with a pool, nesting island and imitation waterfall.
