More Police At West Orange Schools Due To Social Media 'Threat'

There are currently no specific, credible threats to New Jersey schools. But you may see extra police in West Orange anyway, officials say.

The West Orange Public School District released the following message on Thursday evening:

"It has come to our attention that a video is circulating on various social media platforms, including TikTok and SnapChat, warning of nationwide school shootings on December 17. At this time the New Jersey Regional Operations and Intelligence Center is unaware of any specific, credible threats to New Jersey schools. Our administration will meet with local law enforcement today, and out of an abundance of caution, we will have increased police presence on and around our campus tomorrow. The health and safety of our students and staff is of paramount importance."
