Much Ado at the Town Pool
Cross your fingers, it looks like the weather has finally broken and our thoughts can now drift ahead to a fun summer. In West Orange a fun summer has to include the Ginny Duenkel Pool. The Township is working hard to get the facility ready for opening day on Saturday, May 24th. In addition to the standard spruce up, a new mini water park is being installed as we speak. You never know with construction but we are hopeful it will be up and running early in the pool season.
Mark your calendars for Summer Registration Night - Thursday, May 15th. That is the last day to join the pool and qualify for an Early Bird Discount. The grounds will be open from 4:30 PM – 7:00 PM. Residents can join the pool plus sign up for swim lessons and the swim team. Rec personnel will be on hand to register interested parties in a wide variety of summer sports camps and programs. Two other special days at the Town Pool include the annual Youth Sports Pool Party on Sunday, June 8th and the family favorite Sports & games Night on Friday, July 25th.

Keep your eyes and ears open for a one-time special event this summer. Believe it or not, 2014 marks the 50th birthday of the Town Pool. Something is in the works with the help of Mayor Parisi and Town Historian Joe Fagan – I’ll keep you posted.
