ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — New Jersey astronaut Scott Kelly’s daughter, Charlotte, may have taken home the title of “Most Touching Costume” for Halloween 2016.

This Halloween, Kelly’s daughter chose to go out dressed as her father, a lauded NASA astronaut and Essex County native who recently returned to Earth after spending more than a year in space, breaking the record for the single-longest spaceflight by an American.

“My daughter Charlotte wins Halloween this year,” the social media-savvy Kelly wrote on a Monday Twitter post.

His daughter’s costume – which included a realistic-looking spacesuit with protruding life support hoses – also included a heartwarming detail… her father’s nametag, “S. Kelly.”

Charlotte has many reasons to be proud of her father. In May, the West Orange School District recently renamed one of its elementary schools after Scott and his brother and fellow NASA astronaut, Mark.

In March, U.S. Senators Cory Booker and Robert Menendez honored Kelly – who hails from the Oranges in Essex County – when they lauded his year-long space voyage by introducing an honorary resolution in Washington.

While his contributions to the scientific community have been numerous, Kelly’s record-setting space voyage also managed to inspire on an artistic level. For a more than a year, Kelly thrilled Earthbound space fanatics with otherworldly photos posted to social media, garnering thousands of views.
