N.J. Devils Release ‘Secret Workout’ Formula: Here’s How The Pros Train
Want to get in shape the same way the N.J. Devils hockey team does? Learn their workout regimen here.

NEWARK, NJ — With a 28-minute workout, you too can train like a New Jersey Devil. That’s the promise behind a recently released training regimen formula, courtesy of New Jersey’s only remaining professional sports team.
Last week, the Prudential Center and New Jersey Devils Strength and Conditioning Coach Joe Lorincz released the “One Jersey” workout, a proprietary hockey-based workout designed to increase muscle and burn fat.
According to a team news release, the workout incorporates “high-intensity interval training” for increased strength and cardiovascular capacity, with a focus on the core and legs, essential attributes for an elite hockey player.

For non-professional athletes, focus on these areas can help to combat the sluggishness that comes with the cold winter months and a holiday season filled with festive overindulgence, Devils officials said.
The One Jersey Workout is fun but tough, designed to keep some of the most notoriously hardy athletes in professional sports at peak performance level.

“We wanted to create something fun and effective that inspires our fans to work out in the way our New Jersey Devils players do to maintain top fitness,” said Lorincz, who has been with the organization since August 2015. “The trick is making a workout that can be done as little as twice a week, for only 30 minutes each time.”

Here’s the regimen (which can be done at most local gyms), courtesy of the NJ Devils and the Prudential Center. Complete 10 reps of each workout every minute on the minute for four rounds (28 mins total)
- Goblet split-squats
- Push ups
- Sled push (10 yards)
- Suitcase carry (10 yards)
- Ab rollout extensions
- Barbell bent-over row
- Bar (or TRX) pull-ups
