NJ Police Shoot Man Near Highway In Essex County After Car Chase: Authorities

A police investigation continues, authorities said.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — New Jersey State Police troopers shot a man after a car chase in Essex County on Sunday, authorities say.

The shooting took place around 2:10 p.m. on Sunday after a vehicle chase, which ended in the City of Orange near Exit 11 on I-280.

A man was wounded in the shooting after he got out of the vehicle, ABC 7 News reported.

His identity and the identities of the law enforcement officers involved are not being released at this time, the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General said.
