NJ Transit Bus Fatally Strikes Pedestrian, Woman Trapped Under Vehicle: Prosecutors
The fatal crash took place at a busy intersection in North Jersey.
ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A NJ Transit bus struck and killed a North Jersey woman on Monday morning, authorities said.
The fatal crash took place around 6 a.m. at the intersection of Evergreen Place and Freeway Drive East in East Orange, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
Prosecutors said the bus struck Eva Malcom, 30, of Newark, as it was making a right turn on Freeway Drive East. Malcom was then trapped underneath the bus.

Emergency responders extricated Malcom and transported her to University Hospital in Newark. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The bus driver remained at the scene.
