NJ Transit Train Fatally Strikes Woman In Essex County

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A NJ Transit train fatally struck a woman in the Oranges early Friday morning.

According to a NJ Transit spokesperson, train 442 on the Gladstone Branch of the Morris & Essex Line departed Gladstone at 11:53 p.m. on Thursday and was scheduled to arrive at Hoboken Terminal.

The train struck and fatally injured a “female trespasser” at the Highland Avenue station in Orange around 1 a.m., authorities said.

New Jersey Transit Police are leading an investigation into the fatality. No additional details were immediately available.
