Officer Wounded During Armed Robbery At Store In West Orange: PD
An off-duty police officer was injured while trying to stop a robbery in West Orange. A potential suspect is in custody, authorities said.

WEST ORANGE, NJ -- An off-duty police officer was wounded while trying to stop an armed robbery at a convenience store in West Orange on Monday afternoon, authorities said.
A spokesperson with the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said the agency is investigating a shooting, and a male suspect is in custody. The wounded officer was "grazed" during the encounter, she added.

"At 3:08 p.m., an off-duty West Orange police officer sustained a non-life-threating injury in attempting to intervene in a robbery in progress at Krauszers on 12 South Valley Road. The suspect's firearm discharged one time before fleeing the scene. A potential suspect and vehicle are being detained by the Newark Police Department. The officer has been transported to a local hospital and is currently being treated. The scene is secure and there is no threat to public safety. There currently is an active ongoing investigation and updates will follow."
