PHOTOS: West Orange Wins State Playoff Opener
Mountaineers advance to North 1, Group 4 semifinals with 34-9 win over Livingston
The West Orange High School football team was victorious in the first round of the North 1, Group 4 state playoffs today after defeating Livingston 34-9.
Senior running back Lance Smith led the way with 138 yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries for the fourth-seeded Mountaineers (7-3). Quarterback Austin Vanderhoof and receiver Greg Johnson connected on touchdown passes of 10 and 46 yards. Johnson finished with six recpetions for 118 yards. Vanderhoof threw for 188 yards on 13-of-23 passing and defensive end Berlin Brun had four sacks to lead the defense.
With the win, West Orange advances to the semifinals where it will face top-seeded Montclair next Saturday at 1 p.m. in Montclair.
