Police Blotter: Home Burglaries, Man Crashes into Police Car

A Brooklyn man allegedly rammed his car into a parked police vehicle while drunk, police said. Wesley Lawyer, 20, was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving, avoiding a traffic signal and refusing to take a breathalyzer test. A police officer said he heard a loud crash while inside Krauzer's on Central Avenue Saturday. He said he exited the store and saw Lawyer's 1998 Chrysler backing up in the lot after crashing into the side of the unoccupied police car.

A home on White Street in West Orange was allegedly burglarized, police said.The owner told police roughly $5,000 of copper fittings were taken from two bathrooms in the home. Authorities found no signs of forced entry to the doors or windows. The incident occurred sometime between Jan. 13 and Feb. 27, the report said.

Two people were involved in an altercation over a parking spot outside ShopRite Friday, police said. A Orange man, 47, allegedly pushed a West Orange man, 65, against his car, police said.

Money was allegedly stolen from a drop box at the Kessler Institute on Pleasant Valley Way last week, police said. The director of security told police roughly $665 was missing.

A car parked on Mitchell Street in West Orange was allegedly spray painted last week, police said. According to the report, a note was also left on the 1991 Toyota that read, "Park where you live, alarm always going off!"

A West Orange High School student was charged with drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia after she was caught with marijuana seeds and ashes in her jacket pocket last week, police said. The 17-year-old girl was released to her grandmother, they said.

A home on Vossler Court was allegedly burglarized last month, police said. According to the report, several antique light fixtures and a chandelier all worth $200,000 were taken from the home.

A residence on Prospect Avenue was allegedly burglarized Sunday, police said. More than 70 feet of copper were apparently taken from the basement, according to the report.

A 17-year-old teen was charged with drug possession and possession of paraphernalia after he allegedly was seen exiting through a basement window of a Franklin Avenue residence, police said. According to the police report, the teen was seen by a neighbor Friday who called the police. The teen told authorities he had sneaked out of his home. Drug and paraphernalia were found inside his backpack, police said.

Authorities said $200 worth of newspapers were allegedly stolen outside Krauzers on South Valley Road Monday.
