Police Blotter: Stolen Cars, String of Burglaries to Vehicles

The following arrest information was supplied by the West Orange Police Department and does not indicate a conviction.

A Madison woman was arrested and charged with theft after allegedly stealing at least $100 worth of jewelry from her employer, police said. Lisa Giudice, 36, an employee at Walter Bauman's Jewelry Store on Eagle Rock Avenue, was found with a ring inside her pant pocket last week, authorities said. The owner told police a chain worth almost $2,000 was also missing.

A car was allegedly stolen at the Eagle Rock Exxon on Prospect Avenue last week, police said. According to the incident report, the manager of the gas station told police he saw one of his customer's car, a 2004 Toyota, being driven off the lot. The car was later seen heading east on Route 280.

A car was allegedly stolen on Chestnut Street in West Orange last week, police said. The owner of the 2011 Toyota Sienna said she turned on her car and went back inside her home to get her child but when she returned, she saw her car being driven east on Chestnut.

A 200 Audi A4 was apparently stolen over the weekend while parked on Hansen Road, police said.

An iPad and money were apparently taken from an unlocked car on Wellington Avenue Sunday, police said. The ignition cylinder had also been removed, police said, in an attempt to steal the vehicle. The 2002 Passot, though, was not stolen. 

Police said another car was almost stolen over the weekend on Overlook Avenue. According to the incident report, the driver's side door was forced open with an unknown object. The ignition cylinder was removed but the individuals were not able to start the car. No items were taken from the 2004 Dodge, police said.

A car was allegedly burglarized while parked on Burnett Terrace, police said. The driver's side window was damaged in order to gain entry to the 1989 Chevrolet Trailblazer early Monday morning. A hospital identification card from Englewood Hospital was taken. 

Another car parked at the same residence on Burnett Terrace was allegedly ransacked early Monday morning, police said. According to the incident report, nothing was reported missing from the 2005 Jeep Liberty.

A car was apparently burglarized Sunday while parked on Lowell Avenue, police said. A GPS worth $100 and a wool coat worth $200 were allegedly taken from a 2009 Audi A4. Police said the car had damage to the front window and the driver's side door lock.

Another car in the area was also burglarized on Mountain Way, police said. Last Sunday, the driver's side rear passenger window was smashed and the 2005 Jeep Liberty was ransacked. Authorities said nothing was taken from the car. They said  the perpetrator was scared away when he saw the car owner's cousin. The suspect was described as black man with dreadlocks, wearing black jeans.
