Police-Involved Shooting In East Orange; Man Had Gun, Cops Say
A "police-involved shooting" took place in East Orange, Essex County prosecutors said.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Essex County prosecutors are investigating a police-involved shooting that took place in East Orange on Tuesday night, authorities said.
East Orange police officers responded to a report of shots fired around 9 p.m. Officers arrived in the area of Park Avenue and North Walnut Street and found a man with a gun in his possession, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office stated.
At least one East Orange officer fired his service weapon during the encounter, striking and wounding the suspect, prosecutors said.

Emergency responders transported the injured man to a nearby hospital. He was treated and is in “stable” condition, prosecutors said Wednesday afternoon.
No charges have been filed, but an investigation is ongoing, prosecutors said. No additional information about the shooting was immediately available.
