Police are investigating a pair of "suspicious deaths" in West Orange involving a 36-year-old woman and her 6-year-old daughter.
WEST ORANGE, NJ — Police are investigating a pair of “suspicious deaths” in West Orange involving a 36-year-old woman and her 6-year-old daughter, authorities announced Tuesday.
A preliminary investigation indicates that Sushmiba Bardhan, of West Orange, and her daughter sustained fatal gunshot injuries on Sunday in their Suzan Court apartment, according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the West Orange Police Department.
There is no danger to the community, according to police investigators.

Bardhan and her daughter were discovered by a family member. They were pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
The West Orange Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigating the deaths.
