Primary Election 2018: Essex County Executive, Sheriff (Results)
Democrats Joe DiVincenzo Jr. and Armando Fontoura both ran uncontested. Four Republicans are facing off for the GOP nominations.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — New Jersey residents headed to the polls on Tuesday to vote in the Primary Election, which will determine the Democratic and Republican candidates for the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives in the General Election this November.
In Essex County, voters will also cast ballots for the county executive and sheriff seats.
Incumbent Democrats Joseph DiVincenzo Jr. and Armando Fontoura both ran uncontested in Tuesday’s Primary Election.

John Chiaia and Roland Straten faced off for the Republican nomination for county executive. Pasquale Capozzoli and John Van Wagner faced off for the Republican nomination for sheriff.

COUNTY EXECUTIVE
- Chiaia - 4,160 votes (64.61%)
- Straten- 2,266 votes (35.19%)
COUNTY SHERIFF
- Capozzoli - 4,311 votes (66.63%)
- Van Wagner - 2,144 votes (33.14%)
