Redwood Elementary School PTA Earns $1,000 STEM Grant

These parents in West Orange helped to nail down a $1,000 STEM and Families Science Grant from the National PTA.

The Redwood Elementary School PTA has received a $1,000 STEM and Families Science Grant from the National PTA, funded by the Bayer Fund.

Chair of Programming and Events Naomie Milton applied for the grant in December and received word on Jan. 19 that Redwood would receive one of 80 $1,000 grants through the National PTA.

“National PTA is proud to begin 2022 with educational programs and financial assistance to support our students and their PTAs,” said Anna King, president of National PTA.

“We hope this funding will increase family engagement and empower students to learn about careers and opportunities in the healthcare and STEM fields.”

Redwood was one of 36 local PTAs awarded a $1,000 STEM and Families Science Festival grant.

“Our application rose to the top of a competitive pool of applicants from other PTAs,” noted Milton.

“The grant for which we applied is sponsored by Bayer and will provide our PTA with $1,000 in funds and materials to host a hands-on Science Festival for our Redwood students and their families.”
