Residents to be Honored for Contributing to Sports Community

Saturday luncheon at Degnan Park

The West Orange Recreation Department is hosting its annual recreational achievement luncheon Saturday at the Katz Community Center in Degnan Park in West Orange.

The luncheon begins at 1 p.m. and will honor Tony Casalino Sr., Pat Doyle, Paul Oliver and Emily Raftery.

All have made significant contributions to the the sports community this year.

Casalino, a 10-year West Orange Police Athletic League football coach,  is being honored for his service to the youth of West Orange.

Doyle spent years coaching the Mountain Top League Soccer travel teams. He is also a trustee and commissioner of the travel soccer program and coached a co-ed soccer team at Our Lady of Lourdes School.

Oliver, a 44-year resident of the township, coordinate the senior Men's Softball League and was instrumental in growing the 60 and over league. 

Raftery retired last year from the township as the Senior Citizen Coordinator after 25 years. She helped create senior programming around education and health.

The event is open to the public. Twenty dollar donations will be taken at the door.
