Sen. Bob Menendez Reads To Students In West Orange
Sen. Menendez read "House Mouse, Senate Mouse," a children's book that tells the story of how Congress reaches legislative compromises.
WEST ORANGE, NJ — U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez recently visited elementary school students in West Orange for “Read Across America Day.”
His chosen story? “House Mouse, Senate Mouse,” a children’s book by Peter W. Barnes and Cheryl Shaw Barnes that tells the tale of how Congress debates and reaches legislative compromises.
“It’s great to be at the Betty Maddalena Early Learning Center today to celebrate Read Across America,” Menendez said after making an appearance at the West Orange school on Monday.

“Reading should be celebrated not just on Dr. Suess’ birthday, but every day of the year,” Menendez said, referring to the annual effort that takes place on March 2.
During his visit, the senator stressed the importance of reading and took questions from students. He was joined by West Orange Schools Superintendent Scott Cascone and Betty Maddalena Early Learning Center Principal Constance Salimbeno.
