Seton Hall Prep Prepares for Greater Newark Final With a Win
Pirates blast Pingry in state sectional win

Seton Hall Prep's baseball team was afforded the opportunity for a warmup for
Saturday afternoon's Greater Newark Tournament final at Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium in Newark against Millburn.
While Millburn was blanking West Morris 2-0 in the North Jersey, Section 2 Group 3 quarterfinals, Seton Hall Prep was beating Pingry 12-2 in a North Jersey, Non-Public A first-round game.
The Pirates scored six runs in the second and for more in the fourth to take a commanding 12-2 lead.

Senior Rob Fonseca went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run, senior Matt Cianci was 3-for-3 with two RBI and sophomore Tim Hoehn had a two-run single for the Pirates, who raised their record to 19-5. Senior righty Mike Sheridan (3-1) earned the win on the mound for the fourth-seeded Pirates, who will play host to fifth-seed DePaul Tuesday in West Orange.
Ben Ballintyn hit a solo home run and Dan Keller added an RBI double in a two-run top of the first inning for 13th-seeded Pingry (7-11). The GNT final, scheduled to start at 1 p.m., was rained out last Saturday and Sunday night because of rain and moved to Saturday.
