Short-Term Council Member Needed In West Orange

The West Orange Town Council is seeking a resident willing to take over for departed council member Patty Spango until the November election

If you’ve ever wanted to make a difference in West Orange – but not to have a long-term commitment - the time is now.

Following the resignation of Councilwoman Patty Spango last week, the West Orange Township Council announced that it is seeking resumes for any resident who wishes to fill her vacant seat for the remainder of her term.

Spango’s term will expire upon the certification of the November 2016 election results, township officials stated.

Interested residents must submit a resume, along with a one-page cover letter, in-person to the Town Clerk’s office, Town Hall, 66 Main Street, Room 101 by Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 4:30 p.m.

Each candidate is required to have a background check. The form is available in the clerk’s office and should be completed when submitting your resume. Please bring a cashier’s check, certified check or money order in the amount of $18 made payable to “Division of State Police-SBIS.” No personal checks will be accepted for the background check fee.

The council may interview candidates in public on Sept. 24 or Sept. 28, beginning at 7 p.m.
