The West Orange Planning Board is scheduled to review several proposed changes at the West Orange Plaza at their Wednesday meeting – including a new Target store.

The site development plan includes four new buildings and a footprint for a proposed Target store, which would be located next to Whole Foods and serve as the center’s new anchor tenant.
Other aspects of the proposed development include the creation of outdoor dining areas and gathering space, provision of multiple accessory drive-thru windows, and improving the landscaping, lighting and signage. Changes are also being proposed for the layout of parking areas and traffic circulation at the site.

Here is some background on the proposal, as per a March 22 memo from township planner Paul Grygiel to the board and other officials:
“The Township of West Orange Site Plan Review Advisory Board (SPRAB) held a meeting on March 21, 2023. At this meeting, the SPRAB reviewed the above application with the applicant’s attorney, engineer, architect and landscape architect, as well as a representative of future tenant Target. The applicant is proposing to renovate and expand an existing shopping center. A number of changes are proposed to the existing site conditions. It is noted this application was originally submitted over two years ago and was reviewed by the SPRAB at that time.”
The board’s meeting will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21. See Zoom login information here.
