This is the story of a woman who went to a reputable hairstylist in need of a makeover. She has tried everything, she said, but her hair has remained the same, flat, lifeless, and boring. Now, in her mid-fifties, recently divorced, she’s desperate for a change in hope of spicing things up in her life.
The stylist, of course, has walked through that road before with countless other women. She fully understood what her client wanted and what she, as the stylist had to do to satisfy her. Or, at least, she thought she had it all under control.
It started with a full consultation of best features and those that would be best left concealed. The stylist also took the woman’s lifestyle into consideration in order to provide the most suitable style for her. At the end of a long conversation, they both concluded that changes were in order for a rejuvenated outcome.

The stylist then presented her plan to this client, explaining in details what each step would be and how it would enhance her look, before proceeding. The woman listened carefully then retorted with some concerns. “Maybe, I should have mentioned that I’ve been to three other stylists before and wasn’t happy with their plans. Here I am, Not too crazy about yours either.” So, the stylist, at that time, asked her how she envisioned her makeover. What exactly she was looking to change and what she would like to keep in her current style.
“Oh, I don’t know anything about hair. That’s why I came to you. But, I’ll tell you that much. I don’t want my hair cut, I’d like to be able to put it in a bun in the morning. I don’t want a color. It’s too much work to keep up with. Besides, all that chemical can’t be good for the hair anyway. I don’t want any style that requires blow drying or and curling. Who has time for all this everyday? You understand what I want, right. Otherwise, I’d have to reschedule.” Her way of saying I’d have to find someone else.

The stylist thought hard for a moment, smiled and eagerly replied, “I know exactly what you’re looking for. It’s the kind of change most people want in life. Let’s begin.” The stylist proceeded to take her to the shampoo bowl, shampooed and conditioned her hair. She walked her back to the station to carefully towel dry her long mane, added a few styling products unfamiliar to her client. An hour later, the woman walked out of the salon extremely satisfied with her freshly cleaned hair in a bun. She paid the stylist the exorbitant fee and promised to come back in a few weeks to maintain her newly found style.
