Turtle Back Zoo Reaches Record-Setting Visitor Total For 2017
An Essex County family set the record during a visit to see the Turtle Back Zoo's popular, free holiday light exhibit, which ends Jan. 1.

WEST ORANGE, NJ — The Turtle Back Zoo will have a new attendance goal for next year: a cool million. After all, the popular Essex County zoo just reached its highest yearly visitor total ever, breaking the 900,000 mark on Wednesday, county officials say.
East Orange family members Joseph Kusik, Alanah Williams and Ikea Owens became the record-setting visitors when they showed up at the zoo to view the free, annual Holiday Lights Spectacular shortly after 6 p.m., county officials said.

According to Essex County officials, this is the third milestone reached at the zoo in the last month. A new annual attendance record of 795,559 was set on Nov. 17, and 800,000 in annual attendance was reached for the first time on Nov. 24.
