Victim Says He Was Shot In West Orange Supermarket Parking Lot: Police

A victim told police that he was shot in the parking lot of a supermarket in West Orange, authorities say.

WEST ORANGE, NJ — A victim told police that he was shot in the parking lot of a supermarket in West Orange on Monday night, authorities say.

According to a town spokesperson, police in Newark contacted their peers in West Orange at 12:25 a.m. on Tuesday to notify them about a patient at University Hospital, who said he was wounded by gunfire.

The victim told police that he was shot in the parking lot of the ShopRite at 1 Rooney Circle, authorities said.

West Orange police officers split up, with some responding to University Hospital to speak with the wounded man, while other officers went to the ShopRite lot to secure the scene, authorities said.

The victim was eventually released from the hospital and transported to West Orange police headquarters. His vehicle was secured and towed to the WOPD sally port, authorities said.
