Viral ‘Popeyes Meme Kid’ From NJ Gets Super Bowl Ad (VIDEO)
An internet meme made this East Orange native famous. Now, he's promoting free fries and pies for Popeyes.

EAST ORANGE, NJ — “You might know me, I used to be that meme kid.” So begins a new Popeyes ad featuring a familiar face to anyone who has used social media in the past decade: Dieunerst Collin of New Jersey.
Collin, an East Orange native, was just 9-years-old when a video of him holding a soft drink cup and glancing at the camera sideways went viral in 2013. Soon, gifs and memes using screenshots of the video began to spread like wildfire across the internet.

Now, that partnership has evolved into a new commercial that will be rolled out during Super Bowl LVII, which takes place Sunday.
The ad, which promotes the fast food chain’s offer of a free fries or pie for any Popeyes Rewards customer who spends at least $20 on their order from Feb. 6 to Feb. 12. Watch it below.
