The coronavirus is changing how West Orange High School celebrates graduation this year.
WEST ORANGE, NJ — West Orange’s high school seniors have kicked off the first phase of one of the most unusual graduation seasons in the district’s history.
The coronavirus is changing how West Orange High School celebrates graduation this year. Last week, Superintendent Scott Cascone said that – due to the coronavirus – the class of 2020 would hold a drive-by celebration and virtual graduation ceremony on Tuesday.
A “modified on-site ceremony” will also take place on July 8, Cascone said.

“Their senior year has been a year like no other, and they will always have a special place in our hearts and in our school district’s history as a result of it,” the superintendent said.
Prior to Tuesday’s virtual graduation ceremony, the West Orange High School Class of 2020 jumped in their decorated cars and took one last drive through campus to cheering teachers, administrators and town officials.
