West Orange Cheer Team Takes Home 1st Place in Super Essex Conference Competition

When the cheerleaders take home the gold, who cheers for them?

The West Orange High School Cheerleading Team took home 1st place in the Super Essex Conference (SEC) Liberty Division at the Ninth Annual Cheerleading Showcase held at Foley Field in Bloomfield on Oct. 6.

The Lady Mountaineers competed against the Belleville Buccaneers, James Caldwell Chiefs, Central Blue Devils, Montclair Mounties, MKA Cougars, West Essex Knights, and the Verona Hillbillies.

The 2015 SEC Cheerleading Showcase was also touted as “Cheer for the Cure.” According to a release, since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, proceeds from the event will be donated to Coaches vs. Cancer and The Wounded Warrior Project.
