WEST ORANGE, NJ — It wasn’t long ago that Justin Davis was a student at West Orange High School himself. And since graduating and joining the local police force, he’s been keeping his drumming skills sharp.

Last weekend, Davis inspired some serious hometown pride when he grabbed a pair of drumsticks at a home football game and sat in with the award-winning Marching Mountaineers.

Davis, a class of 2017 alum, said he’s living his dream at his new job.

“I never told people what my dream was,” he said. “But it was to come back and serve my community as a police officer.”

Just because you take on a new career doesn’t mean your musical skills can’t still shine, however, as Davis showed at Friday’s game. Those who saw a video of the performance online were wowed.
