The West Orange High boys and girls soccer teams both posted victories Monday in Super Essex Conference play.
The Mountaineers' boys opened the season by beating Montclair 2-0 in a game that was called with 20 minutes left because of lightning.
Jelani Williams scored the first goal — dribbling through several players — then launching a rocket that deflected off a Montclair player into the net. Fabo Acosta scored the second goal 10 minutes into the second half. He controlled the ball off his chest, then hit a rocket into the upper corner of the net.

Senior keeper Thomas Attamante earned the shutout. West Orange outshot the Huskies 7-3.
"It was a lot tougher than the score,'' said Wet Orange coach Doug Nevins. "In this league, when you play on the road you just have to get out of there with the win. That's the most important thing.''
